Linux Engineer - Junior, Standard, and Senior

Linux is our most important platform and is used throughout our client's systems.  Thus, we are building a strong team of the world's best Linux experts, with detailed knowledge of every part of Linux, such as booting, kernels, security, authentication, iptables, networking, load balancing, disk I/O, storage, performance tuning, monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting.  We will train you to advanced levels in all of these areas.

Responsibilities: 

1. Install and configure Linux servers, especially RedHat/Centos, including kernel configurations, kickstart, and packages 

2. Update Linux servers using yum and other tools 

3. Maintain a secure server using standard techniques 

4. Install and manage Linux services such as sshd, dns, ntp, rsync, etc. 

5. Manage networking, including iptables 

6. Manage Linux high-availability including LVS, HA, and ideally DRDB 

7. Monitor server performance with tools including top, iostat, vmstat, and sar 

8. Setup and manage monitoring using tools such as Nagios, Mrtg 

9. Manage storage for NFS, SANs, SAMBA 

10. Manage Xen and VMware virtualization systems

11. Manage web servers such as Apache, Lighttpd, and Ngnix 

12. Manage other web technologies such as MemCache and Squid 

13. Use other tools such as CFEngine, Subversion, and Tripwire 

14. Teach other staff key skills 

15. Create and update accurate system documentation 

16. Accurately track their time for billing 

17. Always provide excellent professional service to customers 

Requirements: 

1. At least 2, 3, or 5+ years (For junior, standard, senior positions) of in-depth Linux system administration experience in production environment 

2. Strong knowledge of Linux basic concepts, commands, and administration 

3. Strong knowledge of server security, threats, and management 

4. Experience with the most of the tools and systems listed above in Responsibilities 

5. Experience troubleshooting problems in every server area such as crashes, stability, and performance 

6. Be willing to do overtime job as needed for projects & production systems maintenance requirements 

7. Bachelor degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, related discipline is required; 

8. Strong analytical, problem solving, self study, teamwork and user support skills/attitudes are required 

9. Effective spoken and written English and Chinese communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with end-users, peers and management and provide technical leadership as needed
